The East High Wildcats are making a comeback in 2010, as Disney Channel greenlights the fourth installment of its popular song-and-dance franchise, High School Musical.
But Troy, Gabriella and co. have graduated, so loyal HSM viewers will get to know a brand-new cast of characters caught in a love triangle amidst the school’s rivalry with West High.
Screenwriter Peter Barsocchini, who wrote the previous three movies, returns to pen HSM4, and he’ll be reunited with executive producers Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush.
The Emmy Award-winning High School Musical debuted on Disney Channel in the US in January 2006 and to date, has been seen by more than 290 million viewers in more than 20 languages in 100 countries. It spawned a trilogy, which also saw equal worldwide successes, with the latest High School Musical 3: Senior Year bowing theatrically and grossing upwards of US$250 million at the box office.
