Disney is launching a new quarterly publication and web hub created especially for Disneyphiles.

D23, which references the year the House of Mouse was founded in 1923, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the company from its past and present. The first issue will include interviews with Tim Burton and Zac Efron, a look inside the Pixar animation studios, candid images of Walt Disney himself from the Disney photo archives and vintage newspaper comic strips of Disney’s classic characters.

Dovetailing with the magazine is its online community www.disney.com/23 and a new collectibles line, The Walt Disney Archives Collection. A one-year, US$74.99 subscription includes four issues of the glossy publication, a free gift from the collectibles line, as well as access to D23 special events throughout the year. The fan initiative gets an official kick off with the inaugural D23 Expo being held from September 10 to 13 in Anaheim, California. Individual copies of the mag will retail at US$15.95 at Disney resorts and retail outlets as well as Barnes & Noble book stores.
