Noggin and The N get name change

In a move to strengthen its brand recognition even more, Nickelodeon is making sure the 'Nick' is part of every channel extension. Come Q4 2009, dedicated preschool channel Noggin will be re-named Nick Jr. and The N is being re-christened TEENick. It's an effort to simultaneously reach parents who grew up with the kidnet and send a clear message to partners that Nickelodeon reaches every demographic of the family.

In a move to strengthen its brand recognition even more, Nickelodeon is making sure the ‘Nick’ is part of every channel extension. Come Q4 2009, dedicated preschool channel Noggin will be re-named Nick Jr. and The N is being re-christened TEENick. It’s an effort to simultaneously reach parents who grew up with the kidnet and send a clear message to partners that Nickelodeon reaches every demographic of the family.

On parent channel Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and TEENick branding will be dropped, but the programming is staying put. Viewers will be steered to other channels and sites for specific programming at the day-part’s end. For example, when the preschool block ends viewers will be directed to Nick Jr. And the programming and development team under Nickelodeon president Cyma Zarghami will stay the same.
