Looking for a great kids charity to link up with? Check out US-based Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.), which is inviting retailers, manufacturers and licensors of children’s and youth products to donate new items to kids in need.
Working with more than 1,000 social services agencies, the corrals and distributes donated branded items, ranging from apparel, footwear and books to toys and educational products, to children and their families who are ill, poverty-stricken or victims of natural disasters.
It was founded in 1985 by kids industry execs in response to Ethiopia’s famine and has since helped more than 64 million children by distributing more than a half billion US dollars worth of new merch. Today, several industry companies donate to the charity, including Disney Consumer Products, Mattel, Hasbro and Scholastic, to name a few.
