Santa Monica, California-based licensor DCI-LA is bringing the popular Japanese character property Mameshiba State-side.

DCI’s parentco Dentsu has generated US$30 million in Mameshiba retail sales since the talking beans with dog faces debuted in Japan in March 2009. DCI is spearheading efforts to move the property into new territories, which include the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. With a new style guide in place, DCI-LA will be on the hunt for partners in plush, toy, fashion, accessory and collectible categories at Licensing International next month.

With more than 25 characters, 250 products from more than 20 licensees, Mameshiba is on track to exceed US$50 million at retail this year.
