Nelvana Enterprises and Hasbro are getting set to bring early 2000’s hit Beyblade back to toy and TV outlets.
The planned relaunch includes a new 51-ep TV series being co-produced by Nelvana and d-rights, which is slated to launch in North America in fall 2010. There’ll also be a revamped toy line, going by the name Beyblade: Metal Fusion with a new cast of characters. The original Beyblade toy line from Hasbro received Toy of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
Not surprisingly, originating toyco Hasbro is on-board as the master toy licensee outside of Middle East and Asia, with Tomy producing a companion toy line for those regions. Nelvana will distribute the series internationally, along with merch and home video rights. The series and toys have already rolled out in Japan.
North American plans in the meantime include setting up all-new tournaments for the Beyblade Battle Association.
