Looking to make a move into the live-action arena, Cake Entertainment has announced that it’ll be producing a live-action/CG hybrid tween comedy pilot for Cartoon Gene.

The 26 x 30-minute co-pro with Galakids and Teletoon Canada revolves around the life of a teen boy who also happens to have random cartoon DNA as a result of his CG action game star mother his computer geek father. His cartoon genes kick in when he hits puberty, which brings about toon-esque reactions under different circumstances.

CTF, Shaw Rocket Fund and Cake will also handle distribution for the international marketplace. Cartoon Gene, an original concept created by Louis Fournier and Natalie Dumoulin, is directed by Adam Weissman (iCarly, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh).

Cake’s also snapped up the worldwide distribution rights to live-action comedy drama Aifric (26 x 30′), which follows the titular character, a 13-year-old girl who’s moved to a small village from the city.
