Ratings Watch: Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Disney XD

Ruling basic cable as the top total day network in July with kids and total viewers is Nickelodeon, which averaged 2.3 million total viewers (P2+) and a 3.6/1.3 million with kids two to 11. The kidnet also saw a 3% increase in ratings gain and 5% rise in delivery with the two to 11 crowd over last year, also up 3% with total viewers.

iCarly was also basic cable’s top kids’ program among total viewers for the month, averaging almost 3.9 million total viewers in July.

SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar were strong in the ratings as the top two, respectively, animated programs for kids in July.

Meanwhile, Disney Channel held the month’s top TV and cable telecast with Wizards On Deck with Hannah Montana, giving the kidnet the title of TV’s number one network in total day.

July was DC’s second-most-watched month ever in total viewers, kids six to 11 and tweens nine to 14, as well as the top-ranked-July on record in the same demos. It was also the net’s most-watched month in boys nine to 14.

The kidnet scored cable’s top spot in prime with kids six to 11 and tweens nine to 14, seeing double-digit percent increases from year-ago levels. A new one-hour ep of Hannah Montana on July 5 came in as TV’s top series telecast this month in kids six to 11 and tweens nine to 14, as well as cable’s number one series telecast in total viewers.

And thanks to the repeat airings of Sonny With a Chance, Jonas and Wizards of Waverly Place, DC held 16 of the month’s top 20 TV telecasts in kids six to 11, and 19 of the top 20 in tweens nine to 14. The former two series held TV’s top two series with the six to 11 and tweens set.

At Playhouse Disney, four series comprised the month’s top-10 TV series in kids two to five demo with , Imagination Movers, Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso.

As for its latest boy-targeted net Disney XD, July was also its most-watched month in the net’s history (including during its previous incarnation as Toon Disney) in total day and prime with kids and boys six to 14.

Disney XD exceeds Toon Disney’s equivalent year-ago deliveries in total day by 14% in total viewers, by 40% in kids six to 14 and by 30% in Boys six to 14. In prime, delivery increased by 18% in total viewers, 47% in kids six to 14 and 25% in boys six to 14.

The last week of July was also XD’s most-watched week ever in total day and prime in kids and boys six to 14. The primary Monday saw Zeke and Luther (8:30 p.m.) ranked in the top five programs in the half-hour, while Phineas and Ferb came in fourth for its time period.
