I’m in the Band is the newest series to get the Disney treatment, as production begins on the music-based live-action comedy series for new boy-focused channel Disney XD.

Previously known as Viper Slap, the kids and family series follows teen Tripp Campbell as he joins his favorite old rock band and helps them make a comeback while also living out his dream to become a rock star.

The HD-filmed series from It’s A Laugh Productions is slated for a 2010 premiere. It was created by Michael Kaplan (Frasier, Girlfriends) and Ron Rappaport (Date My Mom), with executive producers Kaplan and Richard Gurman (Married…with Children, Still Standing) and is being produced by Walter Barnett (The Suite Life on Deck, That’s So Raven).
