Warner Bros. has been celebrating The Wizard of Oz’s 70th anniversary around the globe this year and the festivities will culminate in September with a string of events taking place in the Big Apple.

September 24 is the date of the Emerald Gala at Manhattan’s historic Tavern on the Green, hosted by its owner and CEO Jennifer Oz LeRoy, granddaughter of Oz producer Mervyn LeRoy. The restaurant and grounds are being transformed into the Emerald City complete with a yellow brick road, and will host a number of musical tributes and special guests.

The gala is also promoting Warner Home Video’s September 29 release of The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Editions on Blu-ray, complete with collectibles and new bonus content.

Meanwhile, various locations in NYC this week are hosting the seven-and-a-half story-high decorated Wizard of Oz Hot Air Balloon. Visit www.thewizardofoz.com for more info.
