Two new Bionicle video games are launching on Canadian kidsnet YTV.com, and Corus Television and Lego Canada are launching a six-week Bionicle Glatorian Legends campaign, powered by augmented reality tech, to get kids into the game.
Prepare for Battle uses AR technology, combining real-world and CG content using a webcam and Flash animation. For the first title, a printed marker is also needed to activate the program and recognize the user. Arena Magna, the second game, uses 3-D animated tech, and will also be available on YTV.com as part of the campaign.
Kids six to 12 will be invited to tune in to YTV’s cartoon block CRUNCH on Saturday, August 29 at 9 a.m. EST, where host Andy will demo the games.
Meanwhile, the kidnet will air 45- and 15-second promo spots on-air and post online media badges, leaderboards and box ads to invite viewers to play the games at YTV.com. To activate the program, they’ll be encouraged to download their printed marker on YTV.com or www.ToysRus.ca/LEGO, free of charge.
