As part of the 70th anniversary celebrations for The Wizard of Oz, Warner Bros. Consumer Products has teamed up with virtual world Elf Island to bring the Oz characters into the online realm.
Elf Island (www.elfisland) will house exclusive features and activities for kids and parents, such as dressing up elf avatars as Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow, accessing digital items from the Lion’s metal of courage, Toto, the Wizard’s curtain, and exploring online environments such as the Yellow Brick Road and the Emerald City.
The virtual world will also introduce its GoodQuest in collaboration with WBCP’s philanthropic partner, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, reinforcing its Gaming for Good charity. The quest will empower kids to build virtual camps through a GoodQuest game.
Working directly with non-profit partners like the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Elf Island identifies projects that are emotive and relatable to kids – in this case, empowering kids to build virtual Ariel Camps through an online GoodQuest game, which will then mirror the offline construction of a real Ariel Camp in Africa for HIV-positive children.
