Following up the success of its tween original movies High School Musical and Camp Rock, Disney Channel is looking for similar success with Starstruck.

Scheduled for a 2010 premiere, the story follows a Midwest girl and a Hollywood teen heartthrob who fall in love in SoCal, only to have him publicly deny their relationship when she returns home.

The movie introduces Danielle Campbell as Jessica Olson, the Midwesterner, and Sonny with a Chance‘s Sterling Knight in the role of the pop star Christopher Wilder. Starstruck is directed by Michael Grossman (90210, Grey’s Anatomy); executive-produced by Doug Sloan (Disney Channel’s Princess Protection Program, Minutemen) and co-executive-produced by Jeffrey Thal (Slaves to the Underground) and Jon Brown (The Poseidon Adventure, The Tie That Binds).
