Mattel and Universal extend Barbie partnership

An extended partnership between toyco giant Mattel and Universal Pictures will see the two companies entering a new worldwide marketing and distribution deal.

It’s a 10-picture, four-year agreement that will see Universal taking on the prime rights to distribute all previous Barbie DVD titles beginning January 1, 2010 in the US and in all territories through 2013.

The Universal-released titles have sold more than 75 million units worldwide since 2006.
