Tower Prep and Unnatural History are the newest live-action series to join Cartoon Network’s programming lineup, and they’re also the kidnet’s first hour-long series.
Action thriller Tower Prep follows the story of a teen rebel who finds himself trapped at a mysterious prep school and where he forms a secret group with fellow students to figure out where they are and how to get home. The pilot was executive-produced and written by Paul Dini (Lost, Batman: Arkham Asylum), with Terry McDonough (Breaking Bad, The Street) directing. The series will be produced at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, California in association with Dolphin Entertainment.
Meanwhile, action mystery series Unnatural History revolves around a skilled teen who acquired his abilities through years of travel with his anthropologist parents and gets sent to a Washington high school and ends up trying to solve mysteries revolving around the national museum. Mike Werb (Face/Off, The Mask) created the series and wrote the pilot, which was directed by Mikael Salomon (Band of Brothers, The Andromeda Strain). The series will be executive produced by Mike Werb and produced by Warner Horizon Television.
Production on both series runs of 13 eps is slated to begin in January 2010.
