Indian animation, live-action and gaming prodco and distributor DQE is collaborating with Paris-based studios Method Animation and MK2 to develop a series of animated shorts based inspired by comic icon Charlie Chaplin.
The partners have planned 104, six-minute episodes and will draw from 70 of Charlie Chaplin’s films to draw on as inspiration to capture the quirky, burlesque and comic tone of the character he created.
With a global production budget of approximately US$11.4 million, the first series will be developed with an eye to blending an early 20th century look with modern-day design, allowing for younger generations to identify with the Charlie Chaplin character. In keeping with the spirit of Chaplin, the short episodes will be presented without dialogue and highlight his famous pantomime and use of music.
The entire series will be produced in stereoscopic 3-D.
