For its continent-wide launch this month, the new pan-African children’s network ABC (Africa’s Best Channel) has commissioned 15 animated logo and network IDs from L.A.-based independent animation studio Evil Cat Land.
Using both digital and traditional techniques, one set involves an ABC logo with the continent of Africa broken up into colorful geometric shapes. Another set involves hand drawn character animation starring colorful monsters. The third set features 3-D character animation.
ABC is also including two of Evil Cat Land’s short films in its programming. One of these films, Pachelbel Kanon has already been seen in the US on PBS as well as in Australia and Italy and is currently being distributed to independent cinemas across the US and Canada as an opening featurette.
Evil Cat Land’s music branch, The Detroit Illharmonic Symphony, is providing music for all of the animation.
