Toronto, Canada-based toy company Spin Master has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in the US District Court for the Central District of California against crayon maker Crayola and its IP holding company, Crayola Properties, claiming Crayola is unlawfully infringing on Spin Master’s popular Liv trademark.
The suit was spawned following Crayola’s introduction of a new Liv Crayola line of products targeted at young girls this month. Spin Master is seeking damages, attorney’s fees and a permanent injunction barring Crayola from infringing on Spin Master’s Liv trademark of the teenage girl dolls that have generated tens of millions of dollars in retail sales since their commercial launch in June 2009.
