Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment, a full-service production house created by Random House and Komixx Entertainment, has secured options for four projects based on RHCB books and characters, including Fish-Head Steve, the Gargoylz series, the Princess Poppy books and the Charlie Small series. These four options are in addition to RHCSE securing media rights to Monster Republic by Ben Horton from Hothouse in February.

Fish-Head Steve is a cartoon comic strip that will now be developed for TV animation. It is the quirky story of a group of friends who all wake up with bizarre new heads and embark on a journey for answers. RHCSE will present Fish-Head Steve at Cartoon Forum in September and is currently developing scripts and a pilot.

Gargoylz will be developed into live action CGI for TV. The series, aimed at six-year-olds, features mischievous Gargoylz monsters that use their super powers to create magic, mayhem and mischief. A Gargoylz book will be created for World Book Day in March 2011.

Princess Poppy will be developed for TV animation. The picture books have sold roughly two million copies to date and feature stories about a little girl called Poppy.

The Charlie Small series, which will be developed into live action CGI for film or TV, follows the adventures of an eight-year-old who has lived for more than 400 years as he tries to get back home.
