Channeling the power of preschool television and mobile marketing, Sesame Workshop is bringing an original version of its flagship educational series Sesame Street to Nigeria.
Entitled Sesame Square, the half-hour programming block will feature content focused on educational messages and activities aimed at the roughly 25 million preschool-age children in Nigeria, only 10% of whom are currently enrolled in preschool.
The series will feature two local Muppets, one of whom will be named via a national mobile phone campaign currently underway. The unnamed male Muppet will receive his identity via children and caregivers across Nigeria texting one of three name options to the producers of the series.
