Australian prodco Jonathan M. Shiff Productions (JMSP) is launching a new flagship children’s series, Lightning Point, to be produced in association with German public broadcaster ZDF, Network Ten Australia and Nickelodeon Australia, with investment from Screen Australia and Screen Queensland.
Essentially a marriage of retro surfing and science fiction, Lighting Point is about two girls from another galaxy who become castaways in the quiet, Australian seaside town of Lightning Point. While trying to stay undercover, the whole town is abuzz with the news of UFO sightings, and the girls soon realize that they may not be the first intergalactic visitors to the town.
The series will be distributed worldwide by ZDF Enterprises. Filming begins on November 8 in Australia. Other JMSP hit series include H2O: Just Add Water and The Elephant Princess.
