Universal Music UK, a division of Universal Music Group, marks its move into animation with new preschool animated series Uki, which has been snapped up by CBeebies.

The series will air daily starting next month as part of the Show Me Show Me program. The brainchild of Patrick Busschots and Peter Decraene from Universal Music’s Belgium office, the Licensing is being handled by Universal Music UK’s Neil Jennings.

The show’s titular character is never without a smile and carries with him an innate sense of fun. Each of the 52 x five-minute episodes describes a day in Uki’s life as he takes his young viewers along on his adventures without the use of dialogue.

The show, which won the Pitch It! competition at 2008’s Kidscreen Summit, is already airing in Belgium on children’s channels Ketnet and Club RTL, and books, DVD’s, greeting cards and plush toys based on the series will be available in the territory in October. In addition, the show has been sold into Australia, Portugal, Finland, Norway, Poland, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan, the Middle East and S. E. Asia.
