FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has scored a raft of new European licensing deals for Rebecca Bonbon, the Japanese character created by the original Hello Kitty designer Yuko Shimizu.
Italian licensee Sicem International will be developing 200 SKUs of ladies’ and girls’ fashion apparel that will initially launch at Oviesse retailers in January 2011.
JF Ramos, FME’s first local licensee for Rebecca Bonbon in Portugal, will be producing a range of girls’ apparel as well as distributing stationery including folders, notebooks and pencil cases. The products are set to launch in February 2011 across multiple retailers in Portugal.
In the UK, meanwhile, Poshpaws International will be producing all sizes of plush and beanies, pyjama cases, hot water bottle covers, as well as gifts including key rings, photo frames, snow globes, fridge magnets and photo clips. The plush will be available at UK retailers from August 2011. And Aykroyds & TDP Licensing Limited will be launching a range of nightwear and underwear, which is set to launch next September.
FME acquired the exclusive Rebecca Bonbon rights from Crown Creative in 2008 and represents the brand globally (excluding Japan, Korea and China). In the US, FME recently launched a retail deal with Sears Holding, with Kids Headquarters serving as master licensee. FME worked with Sears and Kmart simultaneously to roll out the girls’ lifestyle brand in more than 2,000 stores across the US and Canada, which launched in August.
