Toronto, Canada-based Portfolio Entertainment has announced the winners of its In Toon with Tweens Animation Contest during the Ottawa International Animation Festival taking place this week.

The first-place prize goes to Jeff Young-Sterling and Ai Rei Dooh Tousignant for their visuals and accompanying interactive activities in Feel the Noise. The second-place prize went to Glen Wyand for The Weird Files.

Feel the Noise received a CDN$7,500 two-year option and development agreement with Portfolio Entertainment, Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium Software and Toon Boom’s Enterprise Solution including Harmony and Storyboard Pro for one year.

Runner-up The Weird Files received a CDN$2,500, one-year option and development agreement with Portfolio Entertainment, Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium Software plus the use of Toon Boom’s Enterprise Solution for six months. Both winners will receive support from a Toon Boom Expert.

Feel the Noise is a rock-n-roll overture that follows two talented but rival grade-eight rock bands from competing music schools as they face the music and overcome their feud. The Weird Files is a tween-focused take on supernatural mystery series in the vein of The X-Files.

An initiative designed by Portfolio Entertainment to encourage creativity within the global animation community, the contest invited animators and creators to submit their original television or multiplatform projects targeting kids ages eight to 12.
