Indian animation company Toonz is setting up a new shop in Canada in partnership with Montreal’s Mediabiz International. Toonz Entertainment Global, Canada (TEG, Canada) will produce both animated and live action properties.

Current projects in the pipeline include season two of the Speed Racer TV series and the series HTDT, both reportedly budgeted at approximately US$6.3 million. TEG, Canada says its goal is to invest roughly US$204 million in projects over the next three years.

‘The decision to set base in Canada stems from the growing co-operation between the North American production houses and Asian counterparts,’ said P. Jayakumar, CEO of the Toonz Group. ‘The partnership with an established house like Mediabiz makes Toonz one step nearer to being an established global player.’
