Jakks Pacific has picked up the license to produce interactive plush toys that integrate with the Kinectimals video game for Microsoft’s just-launched Kinect for Xbox 360 entertainment system.

The Kinectimals plush toys work with Microsoft Tag (mtag) technology to allow players to scan the toys on the Kinect for Xbox 360 sensor. The product then becomes a fixture in the video game, which allows young players to build friendships with a variety of creatures through full body movement, voice commands and gestures.

Limited collector’s editions of the Kinectimals game, packaged with a seven-inch plush toy are now available at select global retailers. In the US, Toys ‘R’ Us is selling the King Cheetah limited collector’s edition and GameStop is carrying the Maltese Tiger. The plush toy game package sells for US$59.99, while the standalone Kinectimals game sells for US$49.99.

Jakks will also produce a traditional plush assortment, which is expected to be sold at mass retailers in the US starting in spring 2011 and is slated to feature five animals in the first wave.
