Dino Dan has landed the 2010 Shaw Rocket Prize. The show, produced by Toronto’s Sinking Ship Entertainment, beat out four other finalists to take the $50,000 prize.

The winner, which was chosen by a jury of kids, airs on TVO, Knowledge Network and Access in Canada, and Nick JR. in the US. It is produced by J.J. Johnson, Blair Powers and Matt Bishop and stars Jason Spevack as Dan Henderson, a 10-year-old obsessed with dinosaurs.

The other finalists for the prize were How to Be Indie (DHX Media), In Real Life (Apartment 11), Jimmy Two-Shoes (Breakthrough Entertainment) and League of Super Evil (Nerd Corps).

‘We’re absolutely elated to receive the Shaw Rocket Prize,’ said the winning producers in a joint statement. ‘Dino Dan is a series about a little boy whose imagination is so powerful that he can conjure up dinosaurs into the real world. Never in our imaginations did we believe we would receive this prestigious award from these (obviously) brilliant kid judges.
