Zodiak Media Group’s The Foundation has been commissioned by Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC) to produce a new 115 x half-hour children’s action game show.

The Foundation is producing The Buzzer (working title) out of Twofour54’s production studios in Abu Dhabi. The show goes into production in January and will air on JCC in September 2011.

The Arabic-language series will be hosted by Saeed Sarhan, who co-hosted JCC’s children’s game show Addarb (The Trail), and features two teams of three as they go head-to-head to win big prizes.

Nigel Pickard, who assumes his new responsibilities for Zodiak Middle East/Asia/Australasia (MEAA) in addition to his existing role as group director of Kids and Family Entertainment, is heading up the project. As CEO of Zodiak MEAA/UK Family and Kids, Pickard will oversee the group’s Mumbai-based production company Sol India and any future operations in the Middle East, Asia and Australasia.

Format rights for The Buzzer are jointly owned by Zodiak Rights and JCC.
