Twentieth Century Fox is tapping into gaming sensation Angry Birds and the power of mobile content to lift the buzz surrounding its upcoming animated film Rio, which hits theaters on April 15.
The game development partnership between Angry Birds creator Rovio Mobile and Fox will see the smartphone and tablet game feature the film’s main characters Blu and Jewel. Angry Birds Rio will launch globally in March with 45 dedicated levels and will regularly add new levels via app updates.

Last year, Rovio’s Angry Birds was downloaded more than 50 million times on various smartphone platforms. And the Finnish game developer will be breaking down the brand’s success and future franchise-building goals at KidScreen’s iKids conference on February 15.
