Universal Pictures and Walmart have launched a co-branded retail program tied to the upcoming live-action/CG-animated film Hop, marking the first time the mega-retailer has worked with a licensed property to brand a seasonal event in its stores.
The second feature film from Despicable Me creator Illumination Entertainment hits theaters on April 1 and is the focus of Walmart’s Easter-themed campaign with more than 100 exclusive licensed products.
Specific Hop-inspired merchandise ranges from US$1 to US$10 and includes boys t-shirts (Garan), girls t-shirts (Topsville), bath and body products (Townley), plush toys (Funrise), coloring and activity books (Dalmation Press) and Hershey’s candy.
Walmart is also offering Hop video games for the Nintendo DS, DSi and 3DS, greeting cards and children’s books.
