The Amazing World of Gumball, the first commission out of Turner Broadcasting’s new Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe, has been greenlit for a second season in advance of the series’ debut.

The mixed-media comedy reflects Turner’s recent commitment to producing large-scale European kids programming.

Produced in London and animated at Boulder Media in Ireland (with 3D elements from Studio Soi in Germany), The Amazing World of Gumball is set to have its international debut on Cartoon Network in the UK in May. The US will be the first territory to roll out the full series as part of Cartoon Network’s primetime Monday evening comedy block. Other countries are expected to begin launching in Q4.

The second season will consist of 40 x 11-minute episodes and will continue its format of 2D and 3D animation within a live-action setting.  The second season will air on Cartoon Network in more than 166 countries worldwide.

The Amazing World of Gumball follows the misadventures of twelve-year-old Gumball and a cast of characters including a tyrannosaurus rex, a cheerleading peanut and a banana.
