Mega retailer Toys ‘R’ Us is joining the global response to the Japan earthquake with a US$500,000 donation to Save the Children.

The funds will support children and families impacted by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and devastating tsunami that recently struck the northeast coast of Japan.

Additionally, the Toys ‘R’ Us team in Japan is working with Save the Children to provide immediate deliveries of urgently needed baby products to impacted areas, including 64,800 cases of diapers, as well as blankets, pajamas, washcloths, towels, hats, legwarmers and more.

Save the Children, a global humanitarian organization that responds to the needs of the world’s children during times of crisis, estimates that 100,000 children have been displaced as a result of the disaster in Japan. Toys ‘R’ Us has more than 8,000 employees and 167 stores in Japan.
