Canada’s Corus Entertainment has chosen digital content guru Maria Hale as its new head of TV programming and production.

Hale was most recently a consultant for two years at GameTV, developing cross-platform strategies and overseeing production and programming strategy.

Now Hale will oversee Corus’ TV programming, including content production, acquisitions and distribution strategies across the group’s stable of specialty and pay channels.

She replaces Joanna Webb, who left Corus last September as VP and head of programming & production to join Canadian broadcaster CTV’s programming team.

Hale will report to Doug Murphy, EVP and president of television at Corus Entertainment.

Corus cited Hale’s negotiating skills for content deals across TV, broadband and mobile service platforms when unveiling her appointment.
