Marvel is developing a merchandising program to go hand-in-hand with its Marvel vs. Capcom gaming franchise. The program follows closely on the heels of the latest release, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
The program includes Marvel Super Heroes and Capcom apparel from Mad Engine; Marvel vs. Capcom Minimates from Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, which will be available at Toys ‘R’ Us stores and comic/specialty stores beginning this August; statue sets from Hollywood Collectibles; a comic art book from Udon; and a line of t-shirts and sweatshirts from Philcos available this April exclusively in Canada at various retailers including HMV, Spencer Gifts, Blockbuster and Winners. This July, Sears will also carry a youth line in stores.
Marvel vs. Capcom combines popular Super Heroes from the Marvel Universe, including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Wolverine, with characters from video game developer Capcom, such as Ryu, Chris Redfield, Wesker and Akuma. To date, Marvel and Capcom have collaborated on six titles including X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.
