In recognizing Android’s ever-growing presence, PBS has launched its very first app for the Google platform–and it’s meant for preschoolers.
The Super Why app for Android is now available for smartphones operating on Android 2.1 and above. The first Super Why apps debuted on other mobile platforms last year and are designed to helps preschoolers build literacy skills through immersive and entertaining storybook adventures.
To date, PBS’ apps have been downloaded more than two million times and the company says the decision to move into the Android platform is aligned with its mobile strategy. In fact, according to a recent comScore report, Android currently claims a 33% share of the smartphone market.
The app is now available for US$2.99 in the new Amazon Appstore for Android.
