Connecticut-based mobile entertainment firm Ruckus Media has tapped children’s publishing exec Lynn Smith as director of business development.

Starting May 23, Smith will focus on licensing and brand partnership. Her appointment follows on the heels of Ruckus’ licensing agreement with Hasbro that involves a range of storybook apps.

Smith was most recently director of licensed publishing at Scholastic. Prior to that, she served as director of licensing and brand management at Simon & Schuster. Throughout her career, she has brokered deals with companies such as Nickelodeon, Universal, Warner Bros, Lucasfilm, Paramount, Sony, BBC, Lego, Hasbro, Mattel, Pokemon, Cartoon Network and Spin Master.

“I see the digital publishing space like a great frontier with regard to licensing and I can’t wait to work with companies to bring their brands into Ruckus’ growing new platform,” Smith said in a statement.
