Corus Entertainment-owned YTV has picked up a second season of Thunderbird Films’ live-action comedy, Mr. Young.
Vancouver, Canada-based Thunderbird will begin production of 26 new episodes in July, bringing the total number of episodes to 52. The series premiered on March 1 and has since become one of the network’s top-rated shows.
Mr. Young follows Adam Young, a whiz-kid-turned-teen genius who teaches at a high school. Being the same age as his students, Young must cope with his co-workers while teaching his best friend, the girl he has a crush on and the class bully.
The TV series has a corresponding virtual game, aptly called Extra Credit, which offers a dual screen experience encouraging viewers to log in to the game during the show to answer trivia questions based on the episode. Top scores for each show are posted online at YTV.com.
Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises is the international distribution agent for Mr. Young, while Nelvana and Thunderbird are co-distributing the series in the US.
