London’s Space Enterprises has been named the licensing agent for the new puppet-based TV series Sooty and Sweep, which is set to hit UK screens later this year thanks to a pickup from CiTV.
The series – the latest incarnation of the classic British Sooty brand – has been commissioned by ITV and will premiere on weekdays on the CiTV digital channel from September 2011 before airing on ITV Breakfast (ITV1) on weekend mornings from the beginning of 2012.
The new show will follow the adventures of animal puppets Sooty, Sweep and Soo as they join their long-suffering companion Richard when he takes on a role as handyman at a coastal holiday park. Specialized sets and props have been constructed for the series and celebrity guests will appear throughout in cameo roles.
Space will be looking to build a full licensing program around the revamped brand.
