Discovery/Hasbro US kidnet The Hub is getting into summer mode with an all-new programming schedule that will include special holiday marathons of original series, a lineup of family-friendly movies and a new Saturday Mashup scheduling strategy.
The latter will feature original series in a special themed block that will highlight the network’s game shows, comedies, and action/adventure series. A preview of the new Saturday Mashup programming will debut Memorial Day weekend on May 28 and will be headlined by two back-to-back episodes of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Pound Puppies and Family Game Night, followed by a three-hour marathon of the first six episodes of ‘80s series Jem and the Holograms (pictured).
Additional special programming for Memorial Day will include a Hub of the Brave day-long schedule featuring hero-like characters. Father’s Day and Independence Day will feature similar lineups highlighting favorite episodes of GI Joe: A Real American Hero and GI Joe Renegades, as well as Transformers Generation 1 and Transformers Prime.
The centerpiece of the Hub’s summer movie lineup will be TV premiere of Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove, starring 11-year-old Australian Bindi Irwin and Beau Bridges.
And, as a bonus, August will play host to special early sneak peeks of The Hub’s upcoming new original game shows, The Game of Life and Scrabble Showdown, which will premiere later in the year. All three game shows are produced by Hasbro Studios.
