Starz Entertainment is bolstering its suite of Encore premium channels in an effort to grow its current subscription base of 33 million. Among the initiatives kicking off on August 1 is a Spanish-language channel and a rebranded family channel.

The eighth Encore channel, Encore Espanol, will mirror the programming of the flagship Encore channel with uncut and commercial-free Hollywood movies for Spanish-language households.

The new Encore Family channel will replace Encore Wam and will echo sentiments of Starz Kids & Family. The ad-free channel will leverage family-friendly movie programming for its young audience.

Other channel changes include Encore Suspense – formerly Encore Mystery – which will offer more dramatic programming options. Encore Action HD and Encore Drama HD – two of the most popular Encore theme channels – will be the company’s 10th and 11th HD channel launches.

Starz Entertainment currently airs more than 1,000 movies and original series every month across its pay TV channels.
