Discovery launches new licensing strategy, interactive products

Discovery Communications has launched a new global licensing brand that encompasses kid-friendly educational products called Explore Your World. The communications giant is also forging a new licensing deal through Big Tent Entertainment with NKOK for a line of Discovery Kids-branded interactive products.

Discovery Communications has launched a new global licensing brand that encompasses kid-friendly educational products called Explore Your World.

Aimed at kids ages six to 12, Explore Your World is a non-character property that will include science and spy kits, collectibles, construction, outdoor, role-play, puzzles and games, back to school, publishing, electronics and interactive.

Oregon Scientific, known for its electronic learning products, has come on board as the launch partner for Explore Your World and will develop a brand-new line of tech-based educational toys.

Discovery has also been busy forging a new licensing deal through Big Tent Entertainment with NKOK for a new line of Discovery Kids-branded interactive products. NKOK, which has created products for brands such as Halo, Hello Kitty, Smurfs, Shrek and Sonic, will create a line of Discovery Kids radio controlled stunt vehicles and the Shooting Robo Warrior Robot. NKOK will also release a line of non-RC products including a Trace-n-Draw Projector, Space Coaster Construction Rollercoaster, and Space Ship Laser Tag. The products will be available at toy, mid-tier and mass retailers throughout the US and Canada beginning this fall.
