Disney Publishing has launched a new Disney Comics app that offers comic readers access to a library of more than 50 Disney titles that feature a range of characters from Mickey Mouse to Lightning McQueen.

Disney Publishing has launched a new Disney Comics app that offers comic readers access to a library of more than 50 Disney titles that feature a range of characters from Mickey Mouse to Lightning McQueen.

The app includes more than 80 years of Disney graphic novels, comics and short stories.  The launch collection includes classic characters, Disney-Pixar comics and Disney Channel-inspired content including High School Musical. Film-based comics based on Tron: Legacy and Tangled are also included in the initial launch, and Disney Publishing will release two new titles each week.

The app launched in the US last week with individual stories available for US$.99 and themed bundles available for US$3.99 through in-app purchase. The app will also be available in more than 80 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Additional markets will launch Disney Comics later this year.

The House of Mouse creates more than 25,000 original comic pages each year and has reportedly more than one billion Disney comic readers. The app, which features Facebook-sharing functionality, is designed the further broaden that content reach and audience.
