Walmart is integrating its movie streaming service, VUDU, on Walmart.com in a move to bolster its e-commerce efforts.

VUDU, which offers movies on the same day they are released on DVD or Blu-ray for rent or purchased without a subscription, will now be accessible directly via www.walmart.com/vudu.

The new service will allow those who select a digital title to complete their transaction through Walmart.com’s checkout and then stream the movie directly from Walmart.com, VUDU.com, or from one of more than 300 VUDU-enabled devices, including select HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players and the Sony PlayStation3.

To mark the launch, VUDU is inviting fans on Walmart’s Facebook page to vote for a new release title that will be available to rent for 99 cents. The titles to choose from include Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules (pictured), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Gnomeo and Juliet – a clear indication that the service is going after young viewers and families.
