Wayne, New Jersey-based Toys ‘R’ Us will hit its mark of opening 21 new stores in 2011, including 11 ‘R’ Superstores and 10 side-by-side Toys ‘R’ Us/Babies ‘R’ Us locations.

As part of this ongoing expansion, the retailer has also announced that it will be remodelling 23 existing locations across the US as TRU/BRU combined outlets and is currently underway, with the aim of completing the remodels by year’s end.

The company first embarked on its integrated store strategy in 2006, and has since converted more than 100 traditional stores in the US to the side-by-side format.
