On the heels of Disney Channel UK multiplex – a portfolio consisting of Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Cinemagic and Disney Junior – seeing its best ratings to date, Disney Channel will launch in HD on satellite service Sky tomorrow.
The multiplex launched Disney XD HD in October 2010 and Disney Cinemagic HD in December 2008.
Throughout the summer, Disney Channel retained its number-one Pay TV position with kids for the fifth consecutive summer. Newly rebranded Disney Junior, meanwhile, saw its audience share up 50% year-on-year thanks to strong performances by Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Club House, Art Attack and Handy Manny. Top performers on the boy-focused Disney XD included Pair of Kings, Phineas and Ferb, and Zeke and Luther.
The new Disney Channel HD will premiere high-definition versions of live-action and animated programs as well as tailor-made movies like Lemonade Mouth (pictured).
