Nickelodeon has picked up the broadcasting rights to a new TV series based on Ubisoft’s Raving Rabbids video game franchise that is being co-produced by Ubisoft and French pubcaster France Televisions.
As part of the deal, Nickelodeon has licensed the global broadcast rights outside of France for the 78 x seven-minute CGI series, being animated by Ubisoft Motion Pictures. France Televisions, meanwhile, will air the series targeting kids age seven to 12 on France 3, and its distribution arm retains DVD and VOD rights in France and for French-language versions sold within Europe.
Nickelodeon will air the productions as 26 half-hour episodes beginning in 2013.
Originally created by Ubisoft for the Nintendo Wii in 2006, the Rabbids game series has since attracted more than 41 million fans on YouTube.
