Richard Scarry toys now in the picture

Following news of its upcoming Annoying Orange toy line, consumer products company The Bridge Direct is launching a line of preschool toys based on the Richard Scarry's Busytown brand.

Following news of its upcoming Annoying Orange toy line, consumer products company The Bridge Direct is launching a line of preschool toys based on the Richard Scarry’s Busytown brand.

The first Busytown toys, which are based on the animal characters and vehicles from the world of Richard Scarry picture books, are now available at Toys ‘R’ Us stores and at at FAO Schwarz Fifth Avenue in New York City.

The toy line will be lead by the Busytown Deluxe Town Hall Playset, which includes figures, roadways and playsets. The Bridge Direct also produced plush, vehicles and figure packs.

Brand-owner Cookie Jar Entertainment and its licensing division CPLG have already launched Busytown licensed goods  that include board games from The Wonder Forge, puzzles from Cardinal Industries, books from Simon & Schuster, cake decorations from Deco Pac and junior apparel from Fifth Sun.

The 50-year old Richard Scarry brand includes more than 300 book titles that have been translated into 30 languages. On top of licensing, the books have been leveraged into a TV series, entitled Busytown Mysteries, a website and a live stage show that’s in development for 2012.
