And the Children’s BAFTAs go to…

At a gala ceremony held last night in London, BAFTA handed out its Children's Awards. Among the shows that took home more than one nod were eOne's Peppa Pig, CBBC's Deadly 60 and Cartoon Network/Turner International's The Amazing World of Gumball.

At a gala ceremony held last night in London, BAFTA handed out its Children’s Awards. Among the shows that took home more than one nod were eOne’s Peppa Pig, CBBC’s Deadly 60 and Cartoon Network/Turner International’s The Amazing World of Gumball.

Peppa Pig took home Best Preschool Animation for the second time and nine year-old Harley Bird, who voices Peppa, won the Performer Award. Deadly 60, meanwhile, won BAFTAs for Best Factual Programme and Presenter (Steve Backshall) and Cartoon Network Europe’s newcomer, The Amazing World of Gumball, nabbed awards for Best Animation and Writer (James Lamont and Jon Foster).

On the channel front, preschool net CBeebies scored Channel of the Year, while Kindle Entertainment got the nod as Independent Production Company of the Year.

Notably, the BAFTA Kids’ Vote competition attracted more than 400,000 votes from seven- to 14 -year-olds in the UK. Who did they choose? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 for Film, Disney Channel’s  Good Luck Charlie in TV,  Just Dance 2  for Video Games, and Bin Weevils as top Website.
