EA’s Barry Cottle joins Zynga

Zynga, the San Francisco-based social gaming company behind Facebook's Mafia Wars and FarmVille, has tapped Barry Cottle as its EVP of business and corporate development.

Zynga, the San Francisco-based social gaming company behind Facebook’s Mafia Wars and FarmVille, has tapped Barry Cottle as its EVP of business and corporate development.

Cottle most recently served as EVP of EA Interactive for video game giant Electronic Arts where he helped grow EA’s mobile and social games business, and spearheaded a number of acquisitions, including PopCap Games, Firemint and Chillingo. He was also previously SVP of marketing at Disney Televentures, and chief marketing officer of Americast and Palm Computing.

Cottle, who will report to Zynga’s COO, John Schappert, will be based in the company’s Los Angeles office.
