Looking to grow its digital footprint, Canadian media conglomerate Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises is launching a number of new apps, webisodes, and eBooks this year featuring its Franklin the Turtle, Max and Ruby and Scaredy Squirrel brands.

Three new Franklin the Turtle apps will be released this year after five were launched last year including Franklin’s Shape Slider and Franklin’s Bumpy Buggy Race-Off.

Other app launches include Max’s Mole Mash, set for a summer release and is the second app based on bunny siblings Max and Ruby, Scaredy SOS, available now and based on Mélanie Watt’s Scaredy Squirrel book series (a game app based on the TV series is set for release this fall), Sidekick, for release later this year and based on the online game from www.ytv.com called Bingopocalypse, and an app for the high-school comedy Detentionaire is scheduled for 2013.

All of the apps for mobile platforms and tablets are created by Nelvana’s in-house digital production team Watch More TV Interactive.

New websites for Max & Ruby and Scaredy Squirrel will also launch this March and summer respectively.

For eBook business, Corus’ Kids Can Press (KCP), which recently introduced an active e-publishing program, will launch new eBooks of its bestselling brands throughout 2012. Twenty-nine Franklin the Turtle and two Scaredy Squirrel titles are currently available digitally.
